What's New for the XC90?

Most of the 2024 XC90 is a carryover model. That said, there are a handful of minor changes. There's the removal of the Dark Theme, though the Bright theme and its chrome fixtures persist. Additional updates include standard laminated side windows on the Ultimate trim and new 22-inch wheels and tire package for the turbocharged and supercharged XC90 B6 Ultimate.

The Volvo XC90 is available in three trims options:

• Core
• Plus
• Ultimate

Performance

The Volvo XC90 is offered with three powertrains. There are the B5 and B6 engine options and the plug-in hybrid variant called the Recharge.

As mild hybrids, both the B5 and B6 use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Though the B5 outputs 247 horsepower and 258 lbs.-ft of torque, the B6 produces 295 hp and 310 lbs.-ft of torque. Both engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.

As for the Recharge, this plug-in hybrid produces 400 hp and allows up to 18 miles of driving on all-electric power before switching to its gas-powered engine.

Interior

The comfort and practicality of the XC90 can't be overstated. There's plenty of legroom and space for up to seven passengers, and the second row can recline. You can even fold down the second and third rows to give the XC90 over 65 cubic feet of cargo space.

Along with a spacious interior, the XC90 also offers ventilated seats upholstered with quality crafted Nappa leather for additional comfort. You can even illuminate the interior with ambient overhead lights and illuminated sill molding.

Technology

The technology offered in the Volvo XC90 offers endless enjoyment for drivers and passengers alike. The responsive nine-inch tablet-like touchscreen is easy to operate, especially when wearing gloves. And every display comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, allowing passengers to listen to their favorite music on their phones or devices through the XC90's 10-speaker audio system. And with the optional mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, drivers can remotely monitor or control the XC90 via a smartphone app.

Safety

As a luxury model, Volvo is all about safety, and it shows in the XC90 as even the base model is loaded with various advanced driver-aids. These safety features include:

• Adaptive Cruise Control: Adjusts speed to maintain a constant distance between the vehicle and the car in front.
• Lane Keeping Assistance: Steers the vehicle back into its lane if it begins to drift over the lane marker.
• Blind-Spot Warning: Alerts you if a vehicle is in your blind spot during a lane change or while in reverse.
• Rear Automatic Braking: Applies the brakes automatically to avoid an imminent collision with an object behind the vehicle.
• Front and Rear Parking Sensors: Alerts you to obstacles not visible in front of or behind the vehicle when parking.
• Driver Attention Warning: Issues an alert if sensors determine you are becoming fatigued.
